Tom Butler and the case of misplaced hair

Always keeping an eye out for twisted Victoriana and playful surreal montages with notions of the Other..

Hairy Vanitas was the blasphemous [?] title of the piece that firstly caught dmtls’ eye

This series by Tom Butler on Victorian Postcards and Cartes de Visite bears great similarities to the previously featured art of Kitty Valentine. Also it couldn’t help but bring to mind one weird little [?] book by the name of Hair’em Scare’em out recently on Die Gestalten Verlag, featuring mostly provocative art concerning hair in unusual places and uses

This last photo is from another artist’s, Patrick Madigan, body of work, exploring similar themes with use of a different medium, photography.
